Thanks to our inspiring colleague Ken and the ESOL Team at the KSB we had a first meeting aka rendevous with Chat GPT. Is it she or he? Anyway – thx a lot Ken for the short introduction to this fascination and/or scary app.
Now Chat GPT is Generative Pre-Trained Transformer. It is a chatbot, i.e. a robot (programm, application) which can maintain a conversation, i.e. produce language and answer questions.
chatGPT appears to possess an extremely large database (conversational data) and is well-trained. Perhaps the best at the moment!
chatGPT can be used at school by teachers and students for…
- Correcting texts
- Produce information
- Give examples
- Create exercices
- Give advice / recommendations
- Create lessons and training-plans
chatGPT has its limitiations:
- The data it can handle is fixed and also limited
- Language process is limited because of accents and mistakes
- It can’t deal with several questions at the same time and/or conversation that are not linear (when topic goes here and there).
